Professional problems modern Russia

It is actual fact, that humanist occupations are very lucrative nowadays. Since school a lot of young people believe this speciality to be very attractive. With such an opinion they are reared in their families, go to school, to a institute and after all they begin bringing up their own children that way. Cul-de-sac.
Why is it so? What do make people think that engineering sciences have lost their importance?
There are several causes.
first present machinery reached such a high extent of progress that society is capable of running it without having specialized technological skill. thereby there is no need for further diffusion of technical skill. Humanits use begins dominating in all fields of life.
second it is an well known fact that we are in the consumer society. People in it don’t want to work with their hands. They like to depict everything and consume products, but not to make something by themselves. Of course this phenomenon does not influence positively on diffusion of engineering education. People are simply not concerned with it.
In the third place is the fact that the resource base has achieved such a extent of desolation that we often have no place for practice after learning the theory.
after all a very important thing is the policy of the state. What professions does it suppose as called-for nowadays? We can easily find out it by analyzing our mass-media. The internet, the television, the radio, the press – what professions do they popularize today? It is easy to prove that they are full of non-technical images. Mass-media show us pleasant, nice life in which there is no place for hard-work, but there are a lot of talks, beautiful scenes and fantasies.
What do we have as a result?
Lack of qualified workers in the engineering sphere. There are a lot of philosophers, lawyers, artists, singers, politicians, professors but a few people, able to operate for example a expensive jointer planer. This will cause a perilous situation when we will be needing very simple things which are very important for our comfortable way of living.
Besides that our education system is totally destroyed. There is no technical literature of high quality – it is either sold or lost. There is no experienced lecturers able to educate worthy personnel working in technical spheres.
Such is the picture. Sad, isn’t it?
Then, there is an adequate question: what should our state do in order to correct the state? I think that there are several actions to be taken. First of all our country should change its attitude towards technical professions and specialities and theirs perspectives. Then our country should apply efforts in order to popularize technical professions in mass-media.
And of course, the best way to save technical professions is to assign enough means both for the payment for the people who work in this sphere and to the creating an adequate resource base.
